Call From Your Browser

What is browser-based calling?

Browser-based calling lets you place real phone calls—to landlines and mobiles anywhere in the world—directly from a web browser. There's nothing to install. You open DialHard in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge, add credit, and dial. The person you reach receives an ordinary incoming call; they don't need an app, an account, or any special setup on their end.

Because the call runs through the browser rather than an installed app, it works the same on a laptop, a phone, or a borrowed computer—your account and credit travel with you, not with the device.

How does browser-based calling work?

It happens in three steps:

  1. Your voice travels from your device's microphone through your browser using WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication)—a secure, browser-native technology that needs no plugins.
  2. DialHard's network routes the call along the most efficient path to the destination and hands it off to local telephony networks.
  3. The recipient's phone rings like any normal call. To them, it's a standard incoming call.

The technology behind it

WebRTC. Web Real-Time Communication carries encrypted, high-quality audio straight through your browser without plugins or extensions. The same protocol powers major video-conferencing platforms and is built into every modern browser.

Global routing. A distributed network positioned across regions keeps latency low and provides redundant paths, so calls connect through the fastest reliable route to destinations in 140+ countries.

Encryption. Connections are protected end to end with TLS encryption, alongside fraud-prevention and data-privacy safeguards.

What are the advantages?

  • No downloads. Nothing to install or update—DialHard runs in the browser you already have, using no device storage.
  • Works on any device. Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, or Android: if it has a browser, it can make calls. Switch devices and keep your account and credit.
  • Access from anywhere. A hotel business center, an internet café, a friend's laptop—log in from any computer with a browser and an internet connection.
  • Secure. Calls use enterprise-grade encryption, and the browser approach avoids the broad app permissions that installed apps request.
  • Always current. You're always on the latest version—new features are there the moment you log in.
  • Resource efficient. Nothing runs in the background draining your battery; resources are used only during an active call.

What do you need?

Supported browsers

Chrome 88+, Firefox 85+, Safari 14+, Edge 88+, and Opera 74+.

Supported devices

  • Desktops and laptops: Windows, Mac, or Linux on any modern OS (2015 or newer), with a built-in or external microphone and speakers or headphones.
  • Phones: iOS 14+ (Safari) or Android 7+ (Chrome).
  • Tablets: iPad (iOS 14+), Android tablets (v7+), and Windows tablets.

Minimum requirements

  • Internet: 100 Kbps minimum, 1 Mbps recommended.
  • Audio: a microphone and speakers, or a headset.
  • Browser: JavaScript enabled and microphone permission granted.

Can I use it on a public computer?

Yes—using any computer is one of the strengths of browser-based calling. When you're on a shared machine at a hotel, library, or internet café, a few habits keep your session private:

  • Use a private or incognito browsing window.
  • Always log out completely when you're finished.
  • Use a headset if you're discussing anything sensitive.

DialHard doesn't store your calling history on the device you use.

Frequently asked questions

How is browser-based calling different from regular calling apps?

Browser-based calling works directly through your web browser, with no app to download, install, or update on each device. It uses WebRTC—already built into modern browsers—so you can call from any device with a browser and an internet connection.

Is call quality as good as traditional phone calls?

Yes, and often better. DialHard adapts to network conditions in real time, enhancing voice clarity and reducing background noise. Many users report clearer conversations than they get on a regular cellular call.

How much bandwidth does browser calling use?

Very little. A typical voice call needs only about 100 Kbps (0.1 Mbps), though 1 Mbps is recommended for the best quality—a fraction of what video streaming uses. On a weak connection, the call adapts to the bandwidth available. For important calls, close other bandwidth-heavy apps like video streaming or large downloads.

Is browser-based calling secure?

Yes. Calls use enterprise-grade TLS encryption, and voice data is encrypted end to end to prevent eavesdropping. Browser-based calling can be more secure than an app, since it doesn't require the broad device permissions an installed app might.

What happens if I switch devices mid-call?

Your credit and history are tied to your account, not your device. If you need to change devices, log into your account from the other device and resume—moving between a laptop, phone, or tablet is straightforward.

Can I use browser-based calling for emergency calls?

No. Browser-based calling is not intended for emergency services (911, 999, 112, and similar)—always use a traditional phone for those. This limitation is common to all internet-based calling services, because location data can't be reliably transmitted to emergency dispatchers.

What if my browser asks for microphone permissions?

The first time you call, your browser asks permission to use your microphone—a standard security step for any voice communication. Click "Allow" to enable calling. DialHard uses the microphone only during an active call and never records or stores your conversations.
